Each package has a set amount of resources, and if these limits are not enough for your website, you’ll be able to easily upgrade to the next higher plan with more resources. Also, you don’t have to guess how many resources you are using, because all of this data is available in real time inside in your cPanel.

What happens if you reach your hosting limits?

Reaching your hosting limits for a couple of minutes isn’t a concern, sometimes web traffic spikes, which is normal. If the resource limit is reached for longer than 5 minutes, your website will slow down and possibly go down until your limits are back to normal. This process could take a few minutes. Is it concerning yet? It could be, but it all depends. This can happen if you have issues with a WordPress website for example, and that same website is running a cron job constantly to complete specific tasks. Another example here is if you have old and outdated plugins and/or themes.

Web hosting account limits

Most web hosting customers are not reaching their limits. If they do, then they’ll find out that they have old backup sitting somewhere in their root folder, or they have a lot of old emails in their junk folder that needs to be cleared. Or sometimes specific WordPress plugin or theme can cause these issues, as we mentioned above already due to plugins or themes that constantly is trying to run a corn job. This task will cause RAM or CPU limits to go to maximum usage.

As long as you monitor your website, update any outdated themes and/or plugins, and run the latest available PHP version, you wouldn’t have any issues.

What is hosting overselling?

Overselling means that you can offer to your clients a hosting plan that comes with 100GB of storage, even if you have 60GB of maximum storage. The same applies to cPanel accounts and monthly bandwidth.
