How to change php version in cpanel

From November 28th, 2022 PHP 7.4 will not receive any updates and security patches, so make sure that you are using at least PHP 8.0 or PHP 8.1 on your website. In this tutorial, we’ll be explaining how to change PHP version in cPanel from your hosting account.

1) Login to your cPanel account

2) Navigate to the section “Software” and click on “Select PHP version

3) Click on the current version drop-down menu (in our tutorial is PHP 7.4)

4) Select the latest version 8.1 and click on “Set as current

When you change PHP version on your cPanel hosting account it will be applied on all of your current and new websites. Before you make any changes, confirm with your website developer if your current WordPress theme and plugins are compatible with the version that you are selecting. In our tutorial, we switched to PHP 8.1 which is the latest one that receives security updates and patches.
